A mobile SS platform is a portable, self-contained elevated work structure mounted on 100–200 mm diameter heavy-duty swivel castors — typically with two fixed and two swivel castors with double-wheel brakes — allowing the platform to be repositioned by one or two operators along a process aisle or around a vessel without tools or crane. Working heights of 600–3,000 mm with platform deck sizes of 600×600 mm to 1,200×2,400 mm, they carry 150–500 kg live load and meet EN 1004 or EN ISO 14122-1 mobile access equipment standards. Adjustable-height models use a hand-cranked scissor mechanism, hydraulic cylinder, or stainless pneumatic cylinder to raise and lower the platform deck between minimum and maximum heights.
The base frame is fabricated from SS 316L or SS 304 square hollow section (SHS) or RHS welded construction with four or six castor mounting positions. The deck frame carries the flooring panel (typically perforated plate or chequer plate) and is surrounded by folding or removable SS tube handrails on three sides, with a self-closing spring gate on the fourth side (stair opening). Folding handrails allow the platform to pass through standard 900 mm doorways with handrails folded. For adjustable-height models, the platform deck assembly slides on vertical SS guide columns driven by a hand-wheel-operated lead screw (manual lift) or 24 V DC actuator (powered lift) — the height is locked by a locking collar or automatic ratchet at any position.
