Shoe-Type Hose Peristaltic Pump

A shoe-type hose peristaltic pump uses 2–4 fixed polyurethane shoes mounted on a rotating carrier to progressively squeeze a heavy-duty reinforced hose (ID 25–250 mm) against a circular housing delivering 0.5–100 m³/h at differential pressures up to 16 bar and viscosities up to 500,000 cP. The larger hose diameter and high-pressure rating make it the industrial-scale choice for abrasive slurry, mining, chemical, and high-viscosity product transfer.

Challenges

Hose Replacement Downtime

Hose failure requires stopping process, draining, and 1–2 hour replacement per pump.

Lubricant Contamination of Hose Exterior

Oil-bath lubricated housing requires hose integrity to prevent lubricant ingress into product.

High Pulsation at 2-Shoe Configuration

Two-shoe design produces significant pressure pulsation (2 pulses/rev).

Limited Speed Above 50 m³/h

Hose compression cycle frequency limits maximum speed to prevent thermal hose fatigue.

Abrasive Solids Wear Hose Bore

Hard particle slurries above 5% w/v erode hose bore, shortening hose life progressively.
