Lobe Pump
Rotary Lobe Pumps are self-priming , valveless, positive displacement pumps. The even rotation of the rotor pair creates a vacuum on the priming side of the pump, which can be defined by the direction of rotation of the drive. This vacuum draws the liquid into the pump chamber. With further rotation, the pumped medium is conveyed past the pump wall into the pressure area.

Working Principle
Two intermeshed rotors are each affixed to gear driven shaft. The shafts rotate in oposite directions. The rotating motion of the rotors create an expanding cavity on the suction side. This allows fluid and solids to enter and fill the suction side of the pump. The rotors carry the fluid around the housing to the discharge side where it is expelled out of the pump by the closing cavity.
Applications
Lobe pumps are used for pumping process fluids in a variety of industries including food, pulp and paper, chemical, food, beverage, pharmaceutical and biotechnology.
